Wavelet-Based RAW Compression | Postponed Image Processing | Additional Processing for Low Contrast Screens The sVGA standard has maximum contrast of gray equal to 3000 times. The best LCD monitors have contrast of less than 1000 times. Cheap LCD monitors have contract equal to 300 times. As camera cell phones have simple LCD monitors, the contrast problem is important. KWEII would like to present an additional processing (modification) of the images for the purpose of viewing high-contrast images on low contrast cell phone’s screen. Below, on the left image the details in the shadow are visible only on a good monitor, while on the right image (with additional processing), the details in the shadow are visible on a worse monitor.
Of cause, the right image has more bright details in the shadow and should not be viewed on a good monitor. This additional processing is for the purpose of viewing images on low-contrast monitors, such as some camera cell phone screens. |
