KWEII Lossy compression combines a huge (up to a thousand times) compression rate with a relatively good quality of the image appearance, keeping necessary details and reducing noise. Compression in several hundred times may be used for cell phone cameras, allowing the transfer of big images through a narrow channel. Visual Lossless CompressionWe believe that for the high-end cameras the biggest interest is not lossy or lossless, but visual lossless compression. KWEII visual lossless compression with embedded noise reduction provides a combination of image quality and a high compression rate. After KWEII visual lossless compression, a file requires less space than a JPEG file (JPEG option: best image quality). This visual lossless RAW data compression may be used as an internal camera format for storing data. If a user wants to have a JPEG or BMP image on the output, KWEII visual lossless file may be easily transformed into the desired format. Due to the imbedded noise reduction, the quality of the JPEG file after KWEII compression will be better than if the image was initially stored in the JPEG. |
